Lampousa is Seeking a Communications Intern

We’re excited to announce a new opportunity to support Lampousa’s growing digital presence. Lampousa.org, along with our Instagram and Facebook channels, is expanding—and we’re looking for a Communications & Digital Media Intern to help us create content, manage updates, and strengthen our community outreach.

Communications & Digital Media Intern (Unpaid)

Lampousa Cypriot American Association
- Commitment: ~6–12 hours per month
- Duration: 12 months
- Location: Remote / New Jersey–New York Metro preferred but not required

ABOUT LAMPOUSA
The Lampousa Cypriot American Association is a nearly 90-year-old cultural organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Greek Cypriot heritage in the United States. Our newly relaunched website—Lampousa.org—along with our growing social presence on Instagram (@lampousausa) and Facebook, is part of a modern communications initiative led by our new Communications Committee.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to help shape the digital voice of a vibrant, historic community organization—and gain real-world experience in media, content creation, and audience engagement.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Communications & Digital Media Intern to support Lampousa’s online presence across our website, newsletter, and social media channels. This is an excellent role for a college student or recent graduate beginning their career in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or public relations.

The internship is unpaid, but provides mentorship, portfolio-quality work, and hands-on experience with modern content workflows—including the use of AI tools for drafting, storytelling, metrics, and engagement optimization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and edit content for Lampousa.org, including announcements, event pages, and community features
- Assist in producing our monthly or quarterly newsletter (Mailchimp or similar)
- Help manage and update Instagram and Facebook accounts
- Draft captions, choose visuals, optimize posting times, and monitor engagement metrics
- Support event promotions—flyers, highlights, photo galleries, recaps
- Maintain a consistent brand voice aligned with the mission of Lampousa
- Collaborate with the Communications Committee and receive mentorship in communications strategy
- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Canva AI, etc.) to accelerate content creation and analyze audience engagement

IDEAL CANDIDATE
- College student or recent graduate in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related fields
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Interest in storytelling, culture, and community-driven content
- Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook content styles
- Curious about AI-assisted media creation and learning new tools
- Organized, self-directed, and able to meet light monthly deadlines
- Passion for Greek or Cypriot culture is a plus but not required

TIME COMMITMENT
- Approximately 6–12 hours per month, depending on ongoing events and campaigns
- 12-month commitment to support continuity and long-term growth
