Karavas 2008
Thirty four years after the Turkish invasion and everything has changed in the beautiful village...For the worse!!
Below are photos taken in the summer of 2008 at the Greek Orthodox cemetery of Karavas. This sacred place is
totally destroyed: tombs are opened, human remains can be found everywhere, crosses are broken, weeds are
all over the place. The little church next to the cemetery was constructed in 1969 with donations from our
Lampousa organization. Nowadays the church is totally empty, open to the elements of nature, stripped of its icons
and full of dirt.
